There are old levels along the line of the Thriddle Incline, the series ending in a working perched right at the top of the crag.

This working is sometimes known as Fleming's Top level and is of early 20th century origin. The path which runs to the left of this working may be followed over Kernal Crag and on to Levers Water, a short distance away in the next valley and is where the Paddy End group of veins were worked.

Levers Water has been extended by damming several times and is currently used for water supply by North West Water.

These workings which are quite close to Levers Water, have been called "the funnel" and "the crater" because of their form.

The 17th century working of Simon's Nick cuts across the crag. Buried in the screes below Simons Nick are the entrances to the Middle and Top level entrances which gave access to workings on the various veins in the area.

The scree slopes in the centre of the picture are composed mainly of waste from the working of the middle level on the Paddy End Old Vein below simon's nick.
